Day 9 - Still sniffling

Okay, today we begin with a bit of housekeeping...
First off, ten hours of sleep definitely helped. Still sick today, but far more functional than yesterday and was able to get a few things crossed off the "to do" list (largely thanks to my kids' wonderful Nana who took them both to the park this afternoon).
Second, for the sake of anonymity should this blog ever actually accrue an audience (I can hardly imagine how that would happen, but just in case), from this point on I'll often refer to my dear family using the generic abbreviations of DH for dear husband, DS for dear son, and DD for dear daughter. Up to this point I've tried to refer to them more articulately while maintaining anonymity, but for the sake of writing flow I'm going to resort to those abbreviations. I'll likely also be using said abbreviations for other dear family members (i.e., DMIL, DFIL, etc.) leaving readers (all two of you) to your own devices for decoding. :)
And now to the writing...if only I had something to write about other than party planning! Yes, I'm still in party prep overdrive, though there is now light at the end of the tunnel. We're at T minus 38 hours - and no, I've not been keeping track, I only counted for the sake of this blog post. Trying to keep my sense of humor in the midst of party chaos! Though my husband (and probably others) think I'm crazy, and though I continue to reference the stress, it really is all in jest because I'm loving what I'm doing. The way I see it, it's just part of my job and I'm blessed to be doing a job that I love! I did a lot of decorating today, my mindset being that if I do all of the really fun stuff today I'll have no choice but to clean tomorrow. I know they say you should always do the hard thing first so that you can really enjoy the rest, but it simply made no sense to clean today when my children would undoubtedly destroy my work long before party time. So, I'll be mopping my floors tomorrow night. I think I'll actually enjoy it more that way...the only reason I don't usually like mopping my floors is because they always look beautiful when I do it...for all of about thirty seconds before the boy and the dog come racing through with muddy paws (yes, both of them!) and the baby throws fistfulls of food off of her tray and DH comes tromping through "fresh" from mountain biking. So, mopping my floors tomorrow night will likely be much more satisfying, as the floors will stay shiny and clean for - dare I say it? - nearly twelve glorious hours! Okay, it's really sad how excited I am about that! I'm definitely looking forward to DD's party...and definitely hoping that once it is over I'll have something far more profound to write about! Until then...I'm off to bake cupcakes!
